Ako Raukura is an Online Māori Education School dedicated to revitalising and teaching Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga through structured lessons utilising the Te Ataarangi Method. Our focus is on empowering learners to embrace and speak Te Reo, building understanding one word at a time.
Our Services
Te Reo Māori Language Courses
At Ako Raukura, our Te Reo Māori courses support learners at every stage, from beginners to confident speakers, and are available online and in person. Guided by experienced teachers and rooted in tikanga Māori, our engaging lessons and interactive exercises empower you to speak Te Reo Māori with pride and purpose.
Each course entails lessons [called ‘whiti’] that are designed to advance the learner based on individual desire and commitment. The more lessons completed contribute toward improved understanding, comprehension, ability and confidence to speak te reo Māori. We provide other Māori speaking environments to complement learning.

Te kaupapa o Te Ataarangi offer practical language use and cultural exchange, ensuring that whether you're a beginner or a seasoned speaker, you’ll feel a strong sense connection.
The methodology suits kinestetic learners using coloured cuisenaire rods that are manipulated around to promote learning.
